Marking who's actually in your room
Why this matters
A child can be checked in at the kiosk but not physically in your room — they wandered off with a sibling, they're in the bathroom, they slipped out. In an emergency, whoever's running the roster needs to know that, so they don't waste time searching your room for a child who isn't there. Marking attendance is how that information gets there.
The two pills
Each child's row on your room screen has two pills: ✓ Present (sage when active) and Not in room (amber when active). Tap a pill to set it; tap the active one again to clear it back to unmarked. Only one can be active at a time.
If two teachers in the same room mark the same child differently around the same time, the most recent mark wins.
When to mark each one
- Present — once you've physically counted the child in your room.
- Not in room — when a child was checked in at the kiosk but hasn't actually appeared in your space.
- Clear it — when a child you'd marked "Not in room" shows up.
Where it shows up
Your marks flow straight to the emergency roster: a child you marked Not in room shows an amber Not in room badge, one you marked Present shows a plain In room badge, and unmarked children show neither.
