Letting the room know you're here for pickup
When the children's area is behind a locked door, you can't just walk back to the classroom to collect your child. This lets you signal the room from the kiosk instead of finding a staff member to pass the word along. This guide has a section for each side.
For parents
What to do
- At the kiosk, look up your household — a scanned pass, phone lookup, or your printed QR card all work, though a self-service station without a scanned pass may ask you to see a volunteer instead.
- On the child-selection screen, tap Let the teacher know you're here.
- Wait nearby with your pickup code ready.
You'll see a note that the teacher is bringing your child ({names}) to the pickup desk.
One thing to know
This is just a heads-up to the room — it doesn't release your child on its own. A volunteer still checks the release screen against your pickup code before handing them over. Have the code ready.
For teachers
Seeing the signal
Your room screen refreshes every 30 seconds. When a parent sends the signal, that child's row turns coral with the header Parent here for pickup.
Responding
Tap On my way. The row turns sage with Acknowledged — bring child to lobby, so other teachers and anyone watching the room know it's handled. Then walk the child to the lobby and go through the normal checkout.
If something doesn't go as expected
- (Parent) "I sent it but no one came." The teacher's screen may not have refreshed yet — allow up to 30 seconds. If there's still no response after a few minutes, find a staff member.
- (Teacher) "Another teacher and I both tapped On my way." That's fine. The latest tap wins, and both screens show the same acknowledged state on the next refresh.
